Makes a lot of ice

The ice is purified and very clear. We did not get the pump we were told that came with it. It was an extra $500. We hooked it up in the garage to a drain out.. It produces a lot of ice and holds a lot of ice. It™€™s definitely heavy duty for ice lovers. We like a lot of ice to fill our ice chest when we go to the lake.

Very disappointed in the manufacturing of Ice Maker as it arrived with two missing screws that hold the scoop and one of the screws that held the lower front grill was screwed in too tight making removing the grill to line up water line very difficult.

We have ice again!

So far so good. Had it about a month, and it makes large amounts of ice with no issues. Replaced an older version of the same machine (that had died after about 11 years), so it was just a slide in replacement. There were many bad reviews of this product, but so far, I have not seen any of the issues reported. This newer unit has several upgraded features that we like (the exterior handle is much better, it has a water filter now and didn't before, etc.) Overall, a good unit that fits in the 18 inch wide hole that the old one left in the cabinet row.

Chronic failure of the water reservoir

On November 16, 2021, we purchased and installed a KitchenAid ice maker, model KUID308HPS00. The water pan was replaced on October 26, 2022. The problem was that the collar, on the bottom of the pan where the water pump is attached, had disintegrated. Subsequently, and for the very same problem, we have had to replace the water pan on three additional occasions: on August 25, 2023, on August 8, 2024, and on August 25, 2025. Clearly the water pan for this model has a design defect that needs to be addressed. The KitchenAid Product Review Board does not acknowledge that there is a chronic problem with this KitchenAid ice maker and that having to replace the water pan on an annual basis (for a service fee of $350.00) is out of the ordinary.

We got this ice machine to replace a similar 2007 model. The new one is fast and much quieter than the old one. An ice machine is one thing we consider a real luxury - once started on this ice you're hooked. :D The ice is crystal clear, tasteless and the perfect size. We have never consumed so much ice in our lives. Highly recommended.

Within days of this being installed i ordered my first service call. Its been about 6 weeks, I called today to request yet another service call. It hasn't worked since i received it,, Its made ice about 3 or 4 days. The only thing worse than KitchenAid products is there customer service. I dont think I have ever experienced worse customer service and care.. They should be honest and tell customers they dont care about their product quality or inconveniencing them.. The technician they send from Flamingo are pretty much useless. They are very nice and professional but lack any expertise and each time they have been here which at least 6 or 7 times, they tell me the problem is something else. I'm left with leaving reviews but now i am contacting Florida AG's office.. I purchased it at Home Depot and sadly, they've left me out to dry as well.. There was a time KitchenAid was a great company and products, no longer. My advice, buy any other product and avoid any Whirlpool company

Built To...Fail? Seems Like It In My Experience.

I have the unit just prior to this one. In fact I own two currently and had one in my previous home for a total of three. Anyway, they seem to constantly need various fixes and two of the units were on the main floor and flooded the basement (old house as well as one I'm currently in) for different reasons. One failed to drain quickly enough in the old home thus became clogged and the one we in the current house flooded because the inlet pump motor developed a leak. Today I had factory authorized service to replace the inlet pump and it immediately made some ice and shut down after that one cycle. This was due to the inlet reservoir tank's water level sensor failure. Tech called KA parts distributor and the sensor is discontinued without a replacement part. Seems the only fix is to throw more money by getting a whole new reservoir with related parts. This will cost nearly $300 more and this is after spending the $500 to replace the inlet water pump. These things ares "bags of hurt" besides the fact they're money pits. KA/Whirlpool can do, and should do, better. Discontinuing a part for a unit of which there's obviously thousands still in the field in use is a very poor decision and definitely not a customer friendly one. Folks, you are just better off buying one of the popular counter-top nugget ice makers than going down the path of having one of these units. Sure, you may get the outlier one that actually does what you buy it for a while, trust me from experience though these have too many built-in failure points and now the long-term support is not only quite expensive but hampered by KA discontinuing replacement parts. They'll probably delete this review, but I feel anyone who purchases these units should be forewarned they're just not made to last any reasonable length of time, worse even they might just flood your home while you're out. It happened to me in two different homes. In fact, I thought I left all this behind when I sold my old home, but what'd ya know...the home we bought had this same 18" KA under counter ice-maker built in the bar area just off the kitchen. These machines just won't quit punishing me. Don't make the mistake of buying one of these and you'll actually save yourself a lot of pain and anguish.

Don™€™t waste your money on this machine. We installed one 15 months ago and it has been and endless hassle. When we took it to repair shop they told us that thy not work on them even under warranty. I complained to whirlpool who owns kitchen aid, and they offered to pay the repair bill up $500. When I submitted my claim they would only pay $425 and I must wait 4 to 6 weeks for payment.

Honestly, with the amount of issues I have had, I would've thought I have had this for 20 years, not five. I have a repairman out at least 6 times. Bought a countertop to replace this since it stopped working. Now that it is working, it won't stop making ice. Everytime I open the door, ice is falling out. Unfortunate for the price and the only ice maker that fits in my customized space. I cannot recommend at all. And I know others who have the same brand, have the same issues.

I love, love, love our ice maker™€¦when it works. This is our 3rd unit in 3.5 years. We bought a house with an older model of this unit and fell in love with all the beautiful ice, then it broke. We figured it was old so we bought a new one (same model) and it lasted for about 2 years, then it broke and the repairs were more than a new one, so we bought another. We considered changing models, but this one fits the space under our counter, so the same model it is. It™€™s in, it works great, we love it and hope it lasts longer than its predecessors.

I installed my first 18" KitchenAid (KUID308) in 2009 and it lasted until March 2018 (about 9 years) until it blew out and flooded my floor. Because it was 18" wide, the cutout in my kitchen island is designed around this width. Very few ice makers other than this one are 18" wide so I ordered another KUID308 ice maker. It lasted 6 years until the compressor failed (1 year after the expiration of the warranty!). Now, I am faced with buying yet another KitchenAid KUID308 because of the width... Ugghhh.

This is a replacement of the same model we purchased 10- yrs ago. The first one was replaced under warranty due to many repeated service issues. The second one lasted about 6 or 7 years and began having several service issues. So now we replaced it with another overpriced same exact model. It works but for how long. For the price of a high end refrigerator one would think it would last longer than 6 or 7 yrs.

Second time is not a charm

This is our second KitchenAid icemaker the first one lasted eighteen years.. This one is different. It gurgles loudly every seven minutes. The unit stops working at random for several days then starts again. The ice looks great when it is there, but it is random. Even the Kitchenaid logo on the door is askew. What has happened to KitchenAid ?

The worst purchase exper in my 6 decades of life

If I could give this experience a zero I would. Ordered and paid for it the first week of Jan. Installers arrived Jan 22 and refused to install because old unit had copper line. Paid a plumber to come and remove the copper line. New Whirlpool installers showed up the next week and refused to install because they didn™€™t have a 30 cent cuppler for the plastic lines to be attached. Hired another plumber who installed it. Whirlpool didn™€™t include the filter so had to call for them to send it. It didn™€™t make ice and flooded my floors. New Whirlpool guy says it needs a drain pump. I order and pay for a drain pump. They send me a water pump after I pay another plumber to install. I had to send whirlpool a pic from owners manual of a drain pump. They told me it would cost almost $700. Then they decided to return the maker. They had installers come and get it. I still haven™€™t received a refund. I™€™ve had to take half of my 2024 vacation to deal with this poor service and ineptitude. It™€™s almost 2 mos since I ordered this and I still don™€™t have an Icemaker.

Horrible service. Horrible installers & product

Worst purchasing experience of my life. Installers wouldn™€™t remove copper line. I had to hire a plumber. When installers came for second attempt, they didn™€™t have the right size coupling and left without installing. I called a plumber to install at my expense. Not the Icemaker won™€™t make ice and has flooded my floor.
