This is the worst microwave i have ever owned. First off the buttons do not light up at night to see what buttons to press. Secondly, and more important is that the light inside the microwave will not shut off after closing the door.Lastly, the turntable dish stopped turning. All this after about 9 months in. I thought Whirlpool was a good brand but unfortunately it has become an inferior brand. Fortunately, i purchased an extended repair warranty. This issues will be fixed. Last time i buy anything made by Whirlpool. I called customer service to see whether this microwave was registered by someone before me. To see if this was a return or refurbished microwave, They were of no help.

I am enjoying my new microwave. I did not give a 5 rating because I find the inside to be a little dim for me. I™™m sure it has to do with the protective coating to deter spills. I would also prefer the laminated ™cheat sheet™ information be somewhere inside the microwave on the top or bottom when you open the door. It™™s easier to see at a glance rather than having to fetch the sheet of paper.

We bought this a month ago to match our new Whirlpool refrigerator and are disappointed. Assuming the name brand meant excellent, this microwave is not. Outside appearance is nice however, open the door and it has a cheap feel to it. The inside casing also looks cheap. It works as a microwave should so we are keeping it to avoid the hassle of an exchange. Therefore, we would not recommend unless you are on a strict budget and do not care of the look and feel. We only hope it lasts.

Works pretty well with a couple small flaws

Overall, it looks good and works well. The only things that aren™™t so good are the control panel cover and the sensor cooking. The plastic over the controls is too soft and scratches easily, and we are careful when cleaning. Sunlight shows a bunch of micro-scratches which shouldn™™t happen on a fairly expensive device. The other issue is that the sensor cooking seems to undercook. Not a big deal, but it could be better.

I like it but it is incredibly loud compared to our 10 year old microwave we replaced with this one. I think ot is due to the blowing of air out of the top when the microwave is on. It's the same when you turn the blowers on. Other than that it operates well.

I bought this 6 years ago . Yesterday it stopped heating. My cheap sharp microwave 12 years old is still running. I checked my fuse box and everything on the microwave (whirlpool) and can't find the problem. Get ready for this to stop working in 6 years.

Safety Issue - Defective Lightbulb & Glued Base

Microwave works great, but there is an extreme flaw that is a severe safety issue. The lightbulb on this unit runs extremely hot, chances are it's an incandescent and NOT a halogen. On top of this, the manufacturer has glued the bulb in place (see pictures). To top it off, on trying to replace the dangerously hot bulb, the base completely separated from the glass, which is going to result in a costly service call and repair. Absolutely unacceptable manufacturing practices and a dangerous/ faulty product, I'm lucky this did not cause a fire.

The people that installed the new microwave were excellent and very professional. However, your direct Sales group on line (SUCKED). I mean at the end of the day it's a microwave. Looks great and we got it on a crazy deal. Had we paid full price $4-5 hundred I'm not sure we would have been so happy with it. The weirdest part is even when you have the under lighting on off it still emits a low level of light from the bulb.? Cooks well like a microwave should.

Features I will miss from our old unit

We like the new microwave. The only "improvement" I want is more "automatic time buttons", such as pressing 1 for 1 minute on High, pressing 2 for 2 minutes, etc., etc. Our replaced unit had that feature that we liked. I know it's petty, but some shortcuts were nice. Now, we have to enter 2, 0, 0 for 2 minutes, that's 3 buttons versus 1 and with buttons, there are greater chances for hitting the wrong one.

Today is the 1st anniversary of our purchase of this microwave. It has worked as expected until about a month ago when we have experienced humidity sensor issues which shuts off certain automated features like sendor cooking or defrosting after about 1-2 minutes. 2 features this machine does not have that I miss from my Samsung unit are the ability to have the timer running for something else I am cooking on the stove while I cook a frozen dish at the same time. That was a convenient feature. I couldn™™t check for that at the facility I bought it from. The other is the light and night light. This one is using an incandescent bulb where my previous microwave had LED lighting. I would have expected LED to be universal in 2023 products. But that too I didn™™t check or have the ability to check in the product showroom.

We like the microwave but is taking some time to figure out the times to cook things. This is not really a problem, we just have to figure it out. The one complaint we have it the display. The blue display is very hard to read unless you are close and directly in front of it. this microwave replaces a Samsung which worked good until it failed after four years. We hope the Whirlpool lasts longer.
