Had two service techs from two different companies come out. They acknowledge the sound and noise, both say "It is by design!". Where in the sales literature does it say "Hey, buy our loud and noisy appliances because we know that's what you expect of it!" Called support and they actually tried to tell me having a howling and whistling unit, all day and all night, is the way it was design to function... really!? Whirlpool doesn't want to take responsibility as there is NO way to submit a formal refund request or send an escalation e-mail of any type to anyone.

The above refrigerator was delivered on February 27, 2026. It looks beautiful, but it has one major problem. We noticed that it had a high-pitched hum, almost like a whistle, which can be heard in most of the rooms of the house. Thinking there was something wrong, we contacted the service department. A service man looked at it and told us it was the condenser. According to him, there was nothing wrong. This is how they were made since the "Green New Deal" mandates. We have never had such an annoying refrigerator. We cannot get away from the sound. There must be a better way to make refrigerators than this. We need other appliances in the future, but they will not be Whirlpool unless this problem is fixed. We waited a long time to purchase a new refrigerator. It is sad to know that our old refrigerator worked better than the expensive new one.

This model seems efficient and cools quickly, but the shelves aren't as adjustable as we'd like. It would mostly be improved by having leveling feet on each corner. The front can be leveled, but the back is still tilted, causing it to wobble when the door is opened. Now the rollers underneath don't meet the ground and the refrigerator can't be moved without lowering the leveling screws.

I have a limited space as to where the refrigerator can fit. Consequently, the 30" refrigerator had to be returned, but luckily this 28" was the perfect fit. The only thing I don't like is the EZ connect Icemaker, because there's nothing EZ about it. The Installation directions don't portray the back of my refrigerator. So it's been a few weeks now and I still don't have the icemaker installed.

I am enjoying the refrigerator that I purchased. It is the compact size that is appropriate for my Condo home. The sleek design, fits appropriately into the space in my kitchen. The gauge to set the temperature is convenient to adjust. I am thankful for the quality of this manufacturer.

My review is being written within 2 wks of delivery. The best thing about this refrig is its super quiet operation
I am not thrilled with the fact it only has 2 adjustable shelfs. The door storage is very good. I have noticed the freezer door will often pop open when the refrigerator door is closed. Overall this is a good refrig for tight spaced. So far I prefer this model over my old 'like sized' GE...mainly because its less noisy

Feels a little smaller sq footage inside than our 1990's model; the bottom clear shelving isn't long enough, leaving an 1 inch gap, exposing both crisper drawers to spills & humidity

Always have been a Whirlpool customer . When our 24 year old finally gave out completely, I knew I had to buy another ! Found one at Lowe's with a good price . Fridge was delivered 2 days later , have had it a month and so far have been satisfied. Also purchase the extended 5 year warranty.

this was a nightmare the doors would shut on you so fast I had a repair man come out he said he could not fix the problem so I had to put two pieces of 3/4' wood under both ends of back of the refrigerator to fix the problem my self WOW

I called for a repair man two days after buying it. the two doors would slam and hit you when they were opened .the man said he could not fix the problem so he called whirlpool they told him I would have to fill it up with food that did not help the problem I put two 3/4' of wood under both ends of the back side of refrigerator and that worked and solved the problem al I can say is WOW

Both freezer and refrigerator get very cold on the recommended setting. Plenty of storage space in refrigerator. Door bins are the right size and convenient.
Complaint: freezer door pops open slightly and closes on own each time I close the refrigerator door. Trying to push freezer door in to be sure it is securely closed each time I open and close the refrig door right now. Afraid this may become a problem in the future. Will watch.

The first one we received had a problem with the freezer door. The freezer door popped open when the refrigerator door was pushed closed. We just received a replacement yesterday and it has the same problem.
Needless to say, we are NOT HAPPY with this product.

I am very disappointed in this refrigerator. Food in the refrigerator portion tends to freeze, especially in the vegetable drawer. Once it defrosts, the food has to be thrown out. The freezer section does not hold very much. The ice maker works well.

Bought it on 7/23, delivered on 8/6, repair visits on 8/14, 8/21, 8/29, 9/4, 9/15 finally after last repair visit Whirlpool agreed to actually replace the refrigerator. It was backordered so arrived on 10/21. As of 10/29 the new one is working as it should, hopefully we will not have any other problems. Not pleased that Whirlpool gave us so much trouble before replacing it. Manny's Appliance was wonderful but they were under the constraints of Whirlpool.

We bought this appliance to replace a ten year old one where the fan stopped running. We had to have a 28" wide one and this was perfect. It actually has a bigger capacity than the old one and we're very happy with our choice.

Purchased at Home Depot at a great price. Chose a slimmer model so it would fit nicely into the corner of my garage just a step down from my kitchen. We use it mostly for beverages but it serves well as an overflow unit. Love it

I recently bought this Whirlpool 18 cu ft as a new downsize from my old 24 cu ft. It has as lots of space, it's quiet and functions well. I like the interior and the exterior. It's basic, that's good, only con is no freezer light.

The only problem I have is the delivery from Lowes. I was shoved in very close to mt wall and cabinet and was never leveled. The door swings out every time I look for something in the refrigerator. I called Lowes and was promised someone would come and fix the problem but no one came. The refrigerator is very well made and I like it very much. It is smaller than the one removed but seems to hold more and is better quality. It is very quiet running and things don't fall through the bins on the door. I am happy with it but it needs to be leveled. Can you help getting someone to fix it. I am 94 and legally blind.

Bought this to replace our last Whirlpool refrigerator, and an all frig/no freezer type wasn't an option anymore. I don't know if it's because of the self defrost freezer, but the motor is very noisy and has a high pitched, undulating whine that is very annoying. We don't have much other than some popsicles and ice cube trays in the freezer, so don't understand the extra noise that sometimes runs for 20 mins, quits for a bit, then starts up again.

When this refridgerator was delivered I noticed a whole where the freezer door meets the frame of the refrigerator about the size of a dime. I checked to see if any cool air was excapingye and it was not . I called and reported the problem and was assured that I have a I year guarantee if anything develops. I am hoping that I can white tape the area and put up with it.
